In 2008, John partnered with his sister Barbara Thornbury to become 4th generation owners of Congleton Lumber. Prior to the purchase, John served in a variety of management capacities in Thoroughbred Horse industry. He was a National Thoroughbred Insurance Underwriting and risk manager for several publicly traded companies. His outside business experience, helped him guide the company through the great recession and the company’s move to our current location. John is an avid tennis player and enjoys family time, mowing, grilling and tending the zoo with his pets at home (when he is not playing tennis).

Pam joined Congleton Lumber Co as the office manager and has moved into the role of Treasurer. She is the glue that holds this business together! Outside of the office, Pam enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys knitting, reading and scrapbooking along with watching the Green Bay Packers.

As Business Development/Marketing Director, Ben’s job is to encourage and promote the growth of Congleton Lumber & Design Center by directing the business development and marketing efforts. These efforts include new business development, client maintenance, presentations, advertising and promotion of the company. When not at the office, Ben and his wife Lucy enjoy spending time with their family and friends, traveling, cooking, and playing golf.

Wayne has been in the construction industry for 32 years. His first job was carrying shingles for his uncles roofing business. He really enjoyed working with his hands and at the age of 18 he landed a job maintaining 400 apartment units. In 1989 Wayne started framing houses and spent the next 25 years building and remodeling homes in the Lexington area. After years of working with his hands he joined the Congleton Lumber team, where he applies all his knowledge to the sales side of construction. He looks forward to the next 20 years with Congleton!

Chris is an outside salesman who brings 21 years of historic renovation and building experience with him to the job site. Chris has a passion for helping customers envision their backyard living as well with pergolas, gazebos, decks and raised planter boxes. In his free time, Chris enjoys family time, golfing, hunting and any activity that involves the great outdoors.

Born and raised in Carlisle, Kentucky. Mary Beth began her career with Congleton Lumber in March of 1992. She quickly learned the lumber business and within a few years worked her way up to sales, spending the majority of her career focusing on windows and doors. You will find her at the front sales counter managing the phones and the flow of the sales office; she also serves as the company’s Special Events Coordinator. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, UK sports and escaping to a beach whenever possible!

Jason is a lifetime resident of Lexington. A childhood interest in architecture and design sparked a career in residential construction that has spanned nearly two decades. In that time, he has been involved in nearly every aspect of the building process, from planning and estimating all the way to the completion of the project. While being new to the Congleton Lumber team, Jason will be able to use his experience and diverse background in the construction industry to help serve his customer’s needs.

Sam joined our team in 2016. She is a prime example of climbing the ladder! She spent her first two years working in the yard, then quickly moved into delivery and became our Safety Coordinator. Her hard work has led her to Inside Sales. When Sam is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, two dogs, and her friends. Kyle is an alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University where he earned his Bachelors of Business Administration. He hails from Boyle County Kentucky–Go Rebels. With over a decade of experience in the building materials industry, his specialties range from cost minimization to inventory management. When not at work, he can be found catching a NASCAR race, cheering on his favorite college or NFL teams, or enjoying the peace of the woods while hunting.

Steve started in residential construction when he was 5 years old, “helping” his Dad frame a house. After graduating from U.K. with a Bachelor’s of Architecture, he worked for one of Lexington’s best homebuilders. He learned every aspect of residential construction, from Design & Drafting, Estimating, Job Costs, and even bath fan installation! He has been at Congleton for almost 20 years. He has renovated 2 homes in downtown Lexington, which are 120-years-old. Steve helps his Mother out a lot now that she lives in Lexington, and also likes to work in his yard.
