112 Year Old Lexington Business Announces New Officers

LEXINGTON, August 7, 2017 — Congleton Lumber Company announced this week their new line-up of officers and partners. The locally owned family business has worked hand in hand with home owners, builders, and remodelers to build and beautify the Bluegrass since the company’s founding in 1905. Congleton Lumber stocks an extensive inventory of exotic and domestic lumber, in addition to the latest innovations in manufactured products such as PVC trim, composite decking, and fiberglass columns. Specializing in superior custom millwork, expert craftsmen on staff can match existing historical profiles or work with clients to manufacture original designs, as well as providing field measurements, general design assistance, and on-site delivery. Their work can be found in notable homes, businesses, and public spaces throughout Central KY and beyond, including the 2×6 tongue & groove Eastern White Pine ceiling of the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion at Cheapside Park.

John Congleton, President since 2004, will be the Chairman/CEO, leading a team of officers and partners that cumulatively boasts over 135 years of experience in their respective fields. John is a current board member and former executive committee member of KBMA, the Kentucky Building Materials Association. Bill McNees, who previously served as Vice President, will step into the role of President. He has been with Congleton Lumber Company since 2002, after owning and operating a carpentry contracting business in Lexington since the mid-1970s. McNees was awarded the Associate Member Award of Excellence by the Lexington Home Builders Association in November, 2015. Pam Gresbach, with over 30 years’ experience in the accounting field, will transition from the role of Controller to that of Treasurer.

Partners Wayne Grant and Chris Thornbury round out the leadership of the 112 year old industry leader. “From my first shop class in 1983 I knew I liked working with my hands and building things,” says Grant. “In 2012, when Congleton Lumber moved to its new location, I was involved in the renovation of the building, and after 22 years building and remodeling homes around Lexington, I was ready for the next stage of my career. I had always thought of going into lumber sales. Five years later, here I am.”

His fellow salesman, Thornbury, is the youngest member of the leadership team. “I am the 5th generation of the Congleton Family to be a partner/co-owner; that still sends chills through me when I think about it! I am ecstatic about the next chapter of my career here and am honored to be a partner of such a well-respected, professional company with such a rich family history.”

Congleton Lumber Company is located at 1260 Industry Road, and is open to the public Mon-Sat. More information can be found at CongletonLumber.com.
